kiwirazzi: (misc: superb cast)

As my previous "Friends Only" post is definitely very much outdated, I decided to have a completely overhauled one. So here are some bits and bops about Yours Truly to give y'all a little overview. I am fluent in sarcasm and profanity, so if excessive swearing and an overuse of "oh for fuck's sake!" (as well as F-bombs on a daily basis) aren't your thing, don't even consider adding me. I come with so much emotional baggage that I need a whole ass transport plane for everything. I also have a VERY dark sense of humor, especially when it comes to my struggles with mental health (see below), so if that isn't your cup of tea, then best consider carefully. Ye be warned!

THE MAIN QUEST:

healing from years of abuse (mental, emotional, verbal, narcissistic), gaslighting, and a major breakdown in 2010 I never fully recovered from. As of 2022, I am officially on disability pension. Not the way I imagined my life to turn out, but here we are. The diagnoses are depression, anxiety, fatigue, and POTS (which is a nasty left-over from C0v!d, sadly). Unfortunately, this is a very loooooong and messy journey, but also, healing never is a straight line. There are set-backs, road blocks, detours, but also the occasional comebacks.

THE SIDE QUESTS:

aka the hyperfixations and fandoms that keep me going are all things TOM CRUISE and updating my little (online) archive with articles and clippings, dating from 1983 until now. I know that his ass is problematic af, but do I look like I care? The man's made some awesome movies, and no, I am not fond of that goddamn cult that brainwashed him. I have studied him, his life and all to a great deal for the past couple of years and will continue to do so and I know perfectly well how they got their claws into him and why he cannot get out anymore. If you just wanna come here and tell me how he's an abuser whatsoever, chances are you won't get far here.

The other major hyperfixation of ESPECIALLY 2026 is all things Cold War. It's a very fascinating era of history, and as a bonus, I happen to live in THE city that is THE symbol of the Cold War - Berlin. This was essentially triggered off with my fascination for JFK and his assassination. "Ich bin ein Berliner!" Nuff said.
I've thus read a lot of history stuff lately, not just about the Cold War, but also the Middle East (also to understand the Palestinian side of the story better).
Speaking of history: I am also fascinated with the Knights Templar, Free Masons, al-Andalus (Spain before the Reconquista), espionage, and a lot of subjects that aren't really taught in (German) schools.

I am queer, very much on the left side of the political spectrum, flying solo, and the most important person in my life is my godson whom I love to bits. He has his own tag on here, and I hear that folks love the stories about him. :) I'm extremely passionate about things that I am interested in and am always happy to share my knowledge. Which is why my Aunt at times says she'd have me as her "Phone a Friend" lifeline should she ever participate in "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?"

I studied British Literature at university (as well as Film Analysis and American Studies), and wrote my M.A. thesis about "Society and Gender Roles in Dystopian Fiction". By no means did I think we'd be witnessing a bunch of the stuff described in those books a good 20 years later in real time ... to this day, I have a knack for Dystopias.

I love sports, too, and while I grew up on the sidelines of local footie / soccer pitches as my late Dad was an amateur coach, I have sworn off from the sport in its largest part. For several reasons. However, it's still SO ON when it comes to the NFL, NHL, MLB, and Olympics.

Music wise, you can find me either listening to 80s music, movie soundtracks, or various kinds of Metal and Metalcore. There is one band that is very dear to me, and that is BURY TOMORROW. They came into my life some time in 2012 when someone linked their "An Honourable Reign" video on Twitter (nope, we're not calling it X on here, kthxbye). I liked what I was hearing, bought the album ...and innocently went to see them live for the first time on April 4, 2014. Little did I know what I was getting myself into ... they're my LORDS AND SAVIORS, and known as BAND! on here.

Well then ...

Still interested in friending me? Fine. :) Welcome to the Shit Show, fasten your seatbelt, the ride's begun!

RAINY CITY

The rainy city has a certain feel to it. The muffled sound of the cars down below is more of a steady humming which you can easily tune out. A background noise. The windows overlooking the streets from the loft up here are fogged. Raindrops keep pattering against them. It’s cozy. Outside, people are rushing along on the sidewalk, huddled under their umbrellas. The city that never sleeps and its hustle and bustle are very well alive on this summer night. Rain keeps falling steadily, and it is as if the air is coming alive with something else other than fumes of cars and the rattling of a train somewhere.

The blurred city lights seem far away in the distance, even though downtown isn’t all too far from this place. The rain has added a peaceful note to the daily life, to the rush and hectic movements. That goes for the honking cars and screeching tires you are used to as well. It is as if the rainy air has turned into a huge soft blanket that wraps the city in.

And yet, it isn’t entirely silent. Or asleep.

You just have to listen to the stories the air and the rain are telling you. A fantasy novel. A crime thriller. A romance whatsoever. There is a certain liveliness here, something for you to discover as the rain keeps pattering against the windows.

Just some random piece I wrote the other day. Two more are currently in the works. The scenes popped up in my mind, legit in front of my eyes, and I wrote them down. Not sure where this is going, but at least, I. AM. WRITING.
kiwirazzi: (misc: Ocean right now!)
I made use of the GORGEOUS weather yesterday and went for a little walk. I needed to clean my head from the world and the current state it's in. It has gotten ...too much. Definitely. So I made my merry way over to Gatow, another part of Spandau, and waltzed around in nature for a bit. It was WORTH IT, definitely. The only smaller disadvantage is that the paths there aren't always easy to walk on, since they come in various types: cobblestone, tarmac, sandy, forrest and almost everything in between. Which my knees weren't too happy about, but whatevs.

Next time someone tells you or me or anyone that Berlin's just a huge ass grey moloch, I beg to fucking differ!

( PIIIIIIIIIIICS! )

I barely met other people there, and if I did, it was mostly someone with a horse or a dog. But other than that? I had my peace and quiet which was desperately NEEDED, fam.

Since I know y'all are wondering where the heck Yours Truly was:

The area is called Rieselfelder Karolinenhöhe, it's a protected area of meadows & waterways with grazing farm animals, popular for hiking & biking. It's not too far away from my flat, and if you're lucky, you'll also get to see wild animals, especially birds (of prey). It's a HUGE area, and I at times felt a bit like back there in Wilderness. If you need a little time out, to detox, clear your head, fresh air (albeit coming with the typical farm smells, iykwim), this is where you need to go. Hopefully, I'll be able to go there again for more walks. Loved it there.
