RAINY CITY

The rainy city has a certain feel to it. The muffled sound of the cars down below is more of a steady humming which you can easily tune out. A background noise. The windows overlooking the streets from the loft up here are fogged. Raindrops keep pattering against them. It’s cozy. Outside, people are rushing along on the sidewalk, huddled under their umbrellas. The city that never sleeps and its hustle and bustle are very well alive on this summer night. Rain keeps falling steadily, and it is as if the air is coming alive with something else other than fumes of cars and the rattling of a train somewhere.

The blurred city lights seem far away in the distance, even though downtown isn’t all too far from this place. The rain has added a peaceful note to the daily life, to the rush and hectic movements. That goes for the honking cars and screeching tires you are used to as well. It is as if the rainy air has turned into a huge soft blanket that wraps the city in.

And yet, it isn’t entirely silent. Or asleep.

You just have to listen to the stories the air and the rain are telling you. A fantasy novel. A crime thriller. A romance whatsoever. There is a certain liveliness here, something for you to discover as the rain keeps pattering against the windows.

*****

Just some random piece I wrote the other day. Two more are currently in the works. The scenes popped up in my mind, legit in front of my eyes, and I wrote them down. Not sure where this is going, but at least, I. AM. WRITING.
